Jessica Else is an expert writer and proven journalist with a dedication to fact-based reporting and community-based storytelling. She’s also a breast cancer survivor and underwent chemotherapy and radiation treatments in 2020 while living in Hawaii.
Jessica spent more than eight years working as a reporter and editor for community newspapers in Oregon and Hawaii. In addition to contributing as a staff writer in several newspapers, Jessica has contributed to newspapers across the U.S. as a freelance writer. She has also written for publications like Pathfinders Magazine, collaborated with expert nutritionists to create websites like ChoosingNutrition.com and has been a guest on American Shoreline Podcasts. She is well-versed in broadcast and print media. She is also a photographer and has taken many of the photos that accompany her written work. Jessica writes about everything. She enjoys writing about natural resources, particularly about watershed management. She also enjoys taking on topics related to agriculture and local food production. Other favorite topics include health and wellness and survivorship after breast cancer. When she’s not writing news stories, Jessica writes other kinds of stories – among them is the novella Nora, published in 2019 and available on Amazon.com. She also writes storylines and dialogue for games, both digital and board games. Hobbies include hiking & fishing, yoga and dining out (even with food allergies!). Jessica has been an asset to news organizations and publications across the country and enjoys collaborating with other communications professionals.
